Carbon nanotubes are no longer a new term in the world of nano technology. It is an allotrope of carbon and it has a cylindrical structure on a nano scaled size. These nanotubes consist of more than one layer of graphene. Two different layers of graphene rightly describe a multi walled carbon nanotube. These multi layered graphites are arranged in a cylindrical structure.

There are two models to this entire matter. One is a Russian Doll model which says that the sheets of graphites are cylindrically layered. A perfect example is a single walled nantotube which contains another single walled nanotube inside it. Second is the Parchment model where a single graphene sheet is wrapped and rolled and this is similar to how a rolled up newspaper looks. We can more commonly see the existence of the Russian Doll model.

In the field of sports equipment manufacturing like the creation of hockey sticks, tennis racquets etc. these nano tubes helps enhancing the performance of the material used and it adds in the final height of the product.

The multi walled carbon nanotubes are also used as an additive agent in concretes and other materials used in architectural purposes. Due to their durability and strength they are helpful in making structures strong and long lasting.

These nano tubes are used widely for making the tips of the microscopic probes stronger. Also in the field of engineering it’s used in large scale these days.
